Why
simple website are better
Many people belive that
complex and bulky websites with lost of pages and content are
better and will make more money.
The fact is, the complete
opposite is true. Simplicity and ease make more money.
What people tend to forget is
the big numbers. 300 million americans. How many of them know
what Fash, Real Audio and MPG's are? The truth is, not many. The
vast majority of americans are still not online, and the ones
that are, are only using e-mail and have little understanding of
how to use the internet.
Very few people will read a
long complex page to try to find what they want. If you are
selling a product, you should have the page as simple as possible.
A picture of the product, since most people would rather see the
pic than read about it, and a good description so the search
engines can read about the product.
Having multiple links on a
page is confusing. Have one primary link to buy the product.
Anything else you add to the
page contributes to confusion and lost sales.
Understand that prople spend
less than 10seconds on an average page, they are clicking through
hundreds of pages and looking for something that appeals to them.
Web designers tend to forget
that the average web surfer has a low internet IQ and is not a
profesional developer. Webmasters will plugin every trick they
have to make a website pop, but many people don't have a computer
that supports the newest technology, and they are not going to
get one, just to view your website.
Keep it simple.
