Serach Engine Submission Services - Good or Bad?

It is a well know fact by anyone that has the slightest experience in the internet, that search engines do not allow automated submissions.

So if you are paying to have your site submitted to google or one of the other search engines, you have been scammed. What is worse, is that many services tell you that it must be done on a regular basis, when in fact the more you submit, the less likely the search engine is to include your page.

The fact is, the search engines want to include your page, if it is good, or their results would be useless to their users. They will decide if they want to include your site and there is no submission service that can ever help you influence google's automated systems.

So "Get Over It!". You can not speed up the process, you can not pay to be listed. You just have to wait, patiently just like the other 2 million people that have started a website today.

One alarming fact is that google hates submission services so much that they clearly state that if you link to any of them, it will adversly affect your placement in google.

Not only do they tell you not to use them, but they penalize you if you promote them. So you will not find any links from website buzz to any submission services. Instead, we will list the direct submission urls for the main search engines. Although the prefered method of search inclusion is to have other websites already listed, link back to your website. If that is not possible, use the urls below t submit to each search index manually.

GOOGLE - Submit your website to google. You do not need to submit every page. You only need to submit the main domain name. They will access the other pages via links on the page. If you do not have an easy to crawl website you may want to include a site map. There is a handy sitemap generator at bumblebeetools.com.

YAHOO - Simple yahoo submission form to be included in yahoos search results. Requires that you set up an account with yahoo. Seems like a bit much to ask when they will list the site anyway, but if you have the time and think its worth the effort, why not.

MSN Live.com - The newest search by msn, should be as good as the rest based on the money spent on development. Don't miss out getting listed early.

GIGABLAST - Not sure how much traffic this one produces, but they have a very hungry bot. If you want to feed gigabot, add your url on their submission page.

SMARTYBEE - OK, its small and likely nevr going to get you much traffic. But it is one of our websites and we are bound by contract to list it. It will build a really cool page about your website with full report and it will increase your search presense through outside linking. So worst case, you get a free link back and a free website report card.
